Storm Glass Cloud - Weather Predictor

  • $40.00

The foolproof way to tell what the weather is doing. The crystals inside react to different weather conditions.

In the 1800s, during his voyage with Charles Darwin, Admiral Robert Fitzroy used and later popularised the storm glass, which promised to predict the weather. Filled with a special liquid that responds to changes in the atmosphere, the crystals within the cloud-shaped glass indicate whether it'll be fair, cloudy, rainy, windy, or stormy.

Clear liquid: Bright and clear weather
Cloudy liquid: Cloudy, possible thunderstorms & rain
Small dots in the liquid: Humid or foggy weather
Large flaky crystals: Cloudy skies, snow in winter
Threads of crystals at the top: Windy weather
Crystals at the bottom: Frost may be coming

A beautifully crafted modern take on an old seafaring technique. A cloud shaped glass on top of a Beachwood base, compliments any home or office decor.

Measures 12.5 x 11 x 5 cms

Recommended for ages 13 years – adult
